Add links into your Twitter profile
Author: Alan Richardson
Have you looked through your “Following” or “Followers” list recently?
If you do then you’ll see how some people are taking advantage of features in the profile description:
- URLs are clickable
- Hashtags are clickable links
- ‘@username’ are clickable links
I think that URLs in the profile are an underused feature that you can harness to your benefit.
You will already (hopefully) have used the link field in the Twitter profile, but you can also add other links into the profile description for more back traffic to your sites or social media profiles.
Note that the “Following” or “Followers” view only shows the first 4 lines of your profile. I keep my profile description to 4 lines so that it does not truncate and show the “…” symbol. If you choose to write more than 4 lines then make sure that your clickable link is before the “…” cut off point.
Example
Below is the profile for my Talotics account on Twitter
My actual profile text is:
http://talotics.com Growing your
business with Digital Online Tactics
http://instagram.com/talotics
When Twitter renders this, it converts the http links into clickable URLs.
Thereby giving me three clickable URLs instead of the normal allocation of one.
